Kree tells Lyvonia how the West Gate in the Landing came to be...

The palisade along the western side of Wehnimer's Landing didn't always have a gate in it. Once, long ago, there was an earthquake which brought down a portion of the wall and also created the rockslide on the Mine Road outside of town. Lord Kree Morlain recalled what happened...

Kree says, "I remember the day well. Shall I start at the beginning?"

You say, "Please."

Kree says, "It was the insects that first tipped us off something was amiss. Hunting parties would report armies of ants moving out of their burrows and down the hillsides."

Kree says, "Those in the forest would see streams of insects all headed east. Then the animals followed, all marching away from their natural homes..."

Kree says, "This continued for a week or so. And we were very perplexed by it all."

Kree says, "Then it happened."

You say, "the earthquake."

Kree says, "The earth itself shook with the power of a thousand quake spells.  The entire town shook on its foundations.  Walls cracked, temples were smashed.  The bank in the eastern side of town was completely
destroyed, and a large portion of the west wall fell down."

Kree says, "Many of the monsters in the area took up resident in new areas. And the land saw small shifts and changes. For several months, the wall remained with its hole."

Kree says, "And finally the town mayor decided to build a gate on the very spot, and so he did, putting in a guard and charging taxes for entrance."
