Celtic’s Deed
POSTED BY Celtic Darak

Back about four or five years ago, Celtic was on the porch one night with Starsnuffer and Kree. An old man came in with a wagon. ( GM Interaction back then was alot more frequent then it is today) He asked if we were interested in a game of chance. <smile>

Asking Celtic/Starsnuffer/Kree if they want to play a game of chance is akin to asking a the flower girl if she has any flowers for sale.

So into the night we played. Finally, the old man owed Celtic 12 million silvers. In the economy of that day, 12 million would equal around 250 million silvers today.

So, the old man started to act a bit antsy, and called out to Celtic.. DOUBLE OR NOTHING! So Celtic asked him if he had 24 million silvers? That’s when he produced the deed.

The story he told was he was the great great great grandson of Rone Wehnimer. He had the deed left to him, as he was at the time the sole heir. There was no reason to think he is anything he wasn’t.

Celtic agreed to let him use the deed as collateral. Celtic did have one stipulation. Celtic says ” We’re going to use my dice, old man”

That is how Celtic received the deed to the landing. In later years, when they changed the mechanics where you’re able to show an item’s description, I had the deed’s contents placed on a show. The deed is valid, and it is in Celtic’s possession.

As an update to the story of the deed, an envoy from the Baron was sent to Celtic asking if Celtic truly owned the landing. Celtic had no choice but to admit that he was the legal titled owner, not that it meant anything, since all it means is he gets the measly 1% note tax, as well as having to pay the salaries of all the employees of the landing (Mayor, Runner, various clerks ). The envoy asked if the town was then for sale in Celtic’s mind. Celtic thought about it and asked what would be the offer?

The envoy promised an answer. So, Celtic awaits the reply of this envoy. One day, when the GM’s decide to continue with the story, they may follow that path, they may not, but the deed does exist, no I didn’t have it made, and all anyone has to do is ask me about it, and I will be glad to retell this story to them

(ed. note: The deed to was returned to Wehnimer's Landing when Celtic's player left Gemstone and was housed in the Wehnimer's Museum. It disappeared with a museum update a few years later.)
